- The comp.lang.* groups *were* intended to be platform-independent, with
- the platform-dependent stuff going to comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.* or
- whatever. Unfortunately, however logical that division may seem to you
- and me, most people's minds don't work that way. When they have a
- programming problem, they first focus on the language that they are
- using, and head for comp.lang.whatever. It simply doesn't occur to them
- to focus on the platform first. (This is not intended as a put-down or a
- flame... just a statement of what appears to be fact.)

- independence can be enforced.
